In the second half of the 1980s, the Besenyő brook was cut off to create a water reservoir for irrigation. The hayfields of Szászrét, Kolumbán garden, Bokor garden and Gát field were flooded. The artificial lake the artificial pond thus formed is 2 km long. After the fish were installed in the pond, it became a favourite spot for sport anglers.
Holidaymakers mainly come from here from Sepsiszentgyörgy and Brassó. Since Besenyő shore of the lake is quite steep, cottages and restaurants have only been built on the Maksa side so far. In summer, tents flicker the lakeshore, and singing goes on till the morning hours around the evening campfires. In winter, the anglers bilge the thick ice.
