Surrounded by deciduous forests, Valea Zălanului is the most outlandish settlement in Three Chairs. It was first mentioned in 1740, under the name of Zalanyi Evegcsur. At the end of the 17th century, the family of count Kálnoky founded a glass factory here, which operated until 1860. The multiangular windows of St. Michael's Church from Cluj-Napoca were made here.
Valea Zălanului administratively belongs to Malnaş, but by car it can be approached from the direction of Aita Seacă. From the settlement’s point of view it is an extraordinary thing that through the relationship with the Kálnoky family, Charles, the Prince of Wales chooses Valea Zălanului as the place for his relaxation. In 2009 a farmhouse on the confines of the village was renovated for Prince Charles, and since then, he goes there regularly to rest. At other times, the participants of the Transylvanian riding tour are accommodated at the aristocratic residence.
In 2014 the Covasna County Council and the Ars Topia Foundation from Budapest organized, for the fourth time in the county, a bath builder bee. The result of this common work, done with heart and soul, is the Bugyogó Bath and the new mofette, which will serve not only the locals, but also the visitors coming here to heal and stay healthy. At the eastern entrance of the village, a blue, decorated board, and a small map informs the visitors that across the Nyíres creek, the Bugyogó Bath is waiting for its guests. Across the creek, colored boards and ornamented with folk motives show the way to the Répás Bath and mofette and to the Pina and Karácsony mineral springs. The key to the mofette can be found at a local man, Préda Jenô, who lives at the entrance of the village. On the entrance board of the bath was immortalized the poem of Préda Piroska, local rhymester.
