Zsigmond mansion

Bicfalău

The Zsigmond Mansion was built on a hilltop in the village, which has become famous due to its mansions and churches. The building site is surrounded by a stone fence covered with tile and reinforced with buttresses, and it is provided with battlements. The enormous stone gate leading to the domain is made of three pieces, thus resembling a triumphal arch.

The main façade of the mansion is divided by a porch placed asymmetrically, which ends in a vaulted tympanum. Visitors can see the year 1882 carved into it, which might show the date of its restoration as the structure of the building indicates that it was constructed in the 18th century. The Zsigmond Mansion is a building formed of four parts, all of them being made of stone. Both living rooms are vaulted, the kitchen and the pantry behind it both have plain ceiling. In the first rooms one can see stucco elements. The window frames are divided into six parts, and are all provided with blinds.

The mansion is considered to be a protected monument; it is in quite a good condition, and is currently used as a living space for inhabitants.
