Panoramas / Tradition craftsmen

Smith craft has been preserved in the Sekler villages mainly due to the households still using yoke-power. The forge-men, who used to manufacture hand-tools, as well as home- and household appliances in the past, are mostly horseshoeing nowadays.

Superseded though by the pneumatic tires, the wheels of the former rimmed carts also used to be iron-mounted by forge-men. However, the various types of manual blackwork can only be performed professionally with correctly chosen and well-maintained tools.

Some of the most important swages are as follows: anvils, hammers, cutters, punchers, smoothers, anvil-cutters, shims, pliers and backing-hammers.

There is an awesome vintage fire-fan heating the live coals in Géza Kremniczky’s coopery in Harale.
