Felsőrákos is situated to the west of Barót, at the crossing point of the Kormos river towards Olt and at its meeting point with the Rika stream. This settlement is part of the Erdővidék. In the Hungarian administration, it first belonged to the Fehér and then to the Upper Fehér County, and in 1876 it was annexed to Háromszék County.

Once the road connecting Háromszék to Udvarhelyszék led through Felsőrákos. Today you can get here turning right from at Véczeri 1848/49 monument on the road connecting Barót to Kökös, or coming from Vargyas. Felsőrákos was introduced to the ethnographic literature thanks to his colourful traditional costumes of the women. They only wear their treasured costumes at important celebrations. Memories of folk architecture are also significant in the village.
