Sinkovits mansion

Cătălina

The text of the slab placed on the porch indicates the age of the rectangular building with a veranda on the main facade, a building complete with outcrop corners and a glazed corridor. According to this, Tamás Basa of Zabola built the mansion in 1640 under the rule of György Rákóczi. This stone building was the core of today's mansion. István Kun of Osdola married Tamás Basa’s daughter, Ilona, thus, at the end of the 17th century, the mansion came into the possession of the Kun family and remained their property until the end of the 19th century.

Since Earl István Kun died without a male heir, the building came to the Count Klebersberg family. From them dr. Ignác Sinkovits, a military doctor from Kézdivásárhely, and his wife Polixena Cseh purchased the estate. Their son, Otto Sinkovits, modernized the building, operated a farm economy in the village and established a distillery at the end of the 19th century and at the beginning of the 20th century. In the historical spirit of the 19th century, the windows were framed with plaster. On the main facade, semi-circular and triangular window frames alternate. The ceiling of its huge hall is decorated in neo-Renaissance style.
